<p>I had a dream last night. It was a glorious dream. No one voted for Labor or the Coalition in the Qld or Federal elections. The whole parliament was full of Independents. It was glorious chaos that fixed everything. <a href="/tags/auspol/" rel="tag">#auspol</a> <a href="/tags/democracy/" rel="tag">#democracy</a> <a href="/tags/qldelection/" rel="tag">#qldelection</a> <a href="/tags/auselection/" rel="tag">#auselection</a></p>

<p>finished reading <a href="https://reviewdb.app/search?r=1&q=https://reviewdb.app/book/2AiqSW8r9IlxlW8ZSkd8u8" rel="nofollow">Living Democracy: An ecological manifesto for the end of the world as we know it</a> 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 <br>"It's the end of the world as we know it, but it doesn't have to be the end of the world." Provides an overview of the roots of the polycrisis (mostly separation & domination) and sketches out the shape of what must replace it: a grassroots democracy inspired by the systemic interdependency of ecology. Both reformism & revolution will just support the current, malignant system. Not much of it was new to me, but it provides a solid framework for many disparate ideas. Take the power back! (Disclaimers: I read this while low on brain juice, and Millie is thanked for her feedback in the acknowledgements.)</p><p><a href="/tags/bookreview/" rel="tag">#BookReview</a> <a href="/tags/books/" rel="tag">#Books</a> <a href="/tags/bookstodon/" rel="tag">#Bookstodon</a> <a href="/tags/nonfiction/" rel="tag">#NonFiction</a> <a href="/tags/democracy/" rel="tag">#Democracy</a> <a href="/tags/biomimicry/" rel="tag">#Biomimicry</a></p><p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://aus.social/@wildwoila" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>WildWoila</span></a></span> <span class="h-card"><a href="https://friendica.world/profile/wildwoila" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>WildWoila@friendica.world</span></a></span> <span class="h-card"><a href="https://aus.social/@timhollo" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>timhollo</span></a></span><br></p>

<p>Speaking of weak Democrats, you have no idea how much trouble I've had getting Democrats in <a href="/tags/maine/" rel="tag">#Maine</a> to introduce or otherwise advocate for gun reform legislation. I've written multiple times to the chair of the Democratic Senate Committee, the Executive Director of the Maine Democratic Party, Senate President Mattie Daughtry (my state senator), the Maine Gun Safety Coalition, and more. All of them refuse to answer me. What cowardice. <a href="/tags/politics/" rel="tag">#Politics</a> <a href="/tags/democrats/" rel="tag">#Democrats</a> <a href="/tags/guns/" rel="tag">#Guns</a> <a href="/tags/gunreform/" rel="tag">#GunReform</a> <a href="/tags/democracy/" rel="tag">#Democracy</a> <a href="/tags/us/" rel="tag">#US</a> <a href="/tags/uspol/" rel="tag">#USpol</a></p>
